Electric Aggregation Rates for 2026 & Opt-Out Information

Powering Our Community: Electric Aggregation Rates for 2026

The Village of St. Bernard is pleased to announce the start of its community electric aggregation program. This program, authorized by St. Bernard voters in the November 2025 general election, enables residents to leverage their collective buying power to secure competitive electricity rates for residents and small businesses.

Following a competitive bidding process, Dynegy was selected as the Village’s certified electric generation supplier for the upcoming term. This program is designed to provide budget stability and price protection against the often-volatile energy market.

The Details: What to Expect

Starting with your July 2026 meter read (which appears on your August bill), the new fixed rate for electric generation will be $0.1025 per kWh. This rate is secured through December 2027, ensuring your costs remain predictable for the next 18 months.

For comparison, Duke Energy's default generation supply rate is projected to be approximately $0.107 per kWh starting in June 2026. By participating in the Village's program, most residents will see immediate savings compared to the standard utility rate.

How Enrollment Works

  • Automatic Participation: Most eligible residents will be automatically enrolled in the program. You do not need to take any action to receive this new rate.
  • Opt-Out Notifications: Eligible accounts will receive an official opt-out letter in mid to late May 2026. This letter will contain full details of the offer and instructions on how to decline if you choose not to participate.  The Opt-Out Deadline is June 12, 2026
  • No Hidden Fees: There are no enrollment fees, and residents may leave the program at any time without paying an early termination penalty.
  • Single Bill: You will continue to receive one monthly bill from Duke Energy with the same reliable service. They will still handle your delivery, maintain power lines, and respond to outages.
